News on the exhibitors participating in the PotatoEurope Machinery Demonstrations
At PotatoEurope we will once again impress you with our Machinery Demonstrations. Several different potato planting machines, machines for mechanical weed control, potato harvesters, loading lines and trailers and dumpers for transport from several manufacturers will be seen live in action on 7 and 8 September 2022 at the Rittergut Bockerode estate in Springe-Mittelrode near Hanover, Germany!
The range of machines and technology presented at the grounds encompasses everything that is necessary for successfully cultivating potatoes: from preparing for cultivation, planting and care technology – whether mechanical or the latest crop protection technology to harvesting, processing and storage. Ute Heimann (HOFdirekt) about our 'On-Farm Potato Processing and Marketing' Special
How do you see the development of direct agricultural marketing in Germany? Ute Heimann, editor of the HOFdirekt magazine for direct marketing, explains that direct marketers reported a 31% increase in turnover in the first Corona year. In 2021, sales declined and this trend continues to this day. 'However, there are many consumers for whom regional and high-quality products are important, which is exactly what you get when you buy directly from the farm!', Heimann adds. PotatoEurope 2022's Special about 'On-Farm Potato Processing and Marketing' is dedicated to this theme and concerns storage, cleaning, packaging, further processing and marketing on your own farm.

Insights into the field preparations with Helmut Zöllner from PotatoEurope partner Field Research Support
As this year's PotatoEurope is just around the corner, Helmut Zöllner from Field Research Support provides an insight and preview of the upcoming trade show event. Several tons of plant material of about 50 varieties were used to till the cropland in the spring. A broad mix of table, starch and industrial potatoes were planted. (English subtitles available)

Update from Rittergut Bockerode
For the PotatoEurope 2022 Special on 'Intercropping and greening of furrow dikes in potato production', suitable types and varieties of intermediate crops and different varieties of incorporation are shown in trial fields. 'These demo intercrop plots are coming up well thanks to irrigating twice. The first plants are even flowering and a dense crop will be established by the time of PotatoEurope 2022!', Georg Henkels of Rittergut Bockerode tells us enthusiastically.
